The Humane Society of Chittenden County

Established in 1901, the humane society of Chittenden county welcomes approximately 1,500 animals and 20,000 people annually.

Their current programs include: Spay/Neuter Program which ensures that every animal adopted from HSCC is spayed or neutered before going to their new home; Foster Care Program for animals who are sick, injured, or too young for adoption; Lost and Found Program, which has re-united many lost animals with their grateful owners; Humane Education Program which includes Camp Paw Paw for children ages 9 - 12 and; Humane Investigations, which responds to calls of concern in suspected cruel and inhumane treatment of animals in Chittenden County; and our Good Neighbor Program, through which we partner with local human service organizations to provide shelter for beloved pets during times of stress and transition in the lives of their owners.

The humane society receives no state or federal assistance, and depends on the generous contributions of individuals, businesses, and foundations, and on the over 5,000 hours of service its dedicated 200 volunteers work.
